DREAM PARK
Straight to The Bottom is Chris Varbanovski’s debut 8-minute short film. It premiered at Image+Nation, Canada’s premier LGBTQ film festival. It went on to play at IN THE PALACE, an Academy Award®-qualifying film festival, Athens Short Film Festival and is distributed by kinematograf.bg, Bulgaria’s largest short film distributor.
The idea for the film was born in the mind of Chris’s on his first day in a 35mm film summer masterclass in Prague, following a brainstorm about what The Czech Republic and Prague are known for: beer, beautiful buildings, more beer, Miloš Forman, beer, Kafka, and...porn? Yes, porn. Did you know Prague is the porn capital of the world? Chris latched onto this idea, and his research took him into the world of Straight to The Bottom. The short was filmed on an Arricam Lite in the span of two short days.
An interesting fact about the production: To save time and financial resources, two university classrooms were transformed into a bedroom and a porn studio.
